This Parenthood
One night after dinner, my 6 year old daughter E and 5 year old son C were eating their nightly treat. They are such lucky kids and I don’t think they realize how lucky they actually are.
I was staring at them and honestly envious. I wish I was a kid still and living the life they have. I never got nightly treats and everything seemed like a special occasion when that happened. We rarely ate out, did any paid activities, of even have as many toys they have.
I decided to remind them how lucky they were to give them some perspective. I started by say how lucky they were to have this type of childhood and before I could move on to other parts of my speech, E interrupted me by saying that I was living this parenthood though!
It stopped me in my tracks and I was admiring how witty she was (she gets it from me!). She started to laugh while me and my wife started to as well. It was a great reminder for me to be grateful for what I have and that in reality, I am the lucky one.
