Blasting Soccer Balls

I have finally crossed the threshold in my life where my 5 year old son C wants to blast soccer balls in the house. He is falling in love with soccer and is always kicking one around. I don’t want to take the soccer balls away from him, but it is teetering on that point daily.

At least a few times a day, I have to remind him not to blast the soccer balls in the house. Dribbling is fine. Passing is fine. Practicing some moves is fine. C then forgets and starts kicking the ball as hard as he can in any direction. He has knocked things down, almost broken a pendant light in the kitchen, and hit almost everyone in the family. One night, he ruined his own dinosaur fuse bead he worked hard on a few weeks ago (which I hadn’t gotten around to ironing). He said he didn’t care after I gave him a lecture about the same thing…not blasting soccer balls.

I guess most families get to this point if they have kids that love to play sports or being active. It is inevitable that they will cause a little chaos here and there when they are testing their limits (both skillset and rules related limits). Until things get much worse, I think I’lll still let C kick a soccer ball around the house and hope that the lecturing pays off soon.
