Worry AHHHH
I read this book called Don’t Worry, Murray to my 2 year old son L. It’s a cute story about this dog that is always worried, but he still does all of these things that get him out of his comfort zone. He still worries about what could happen and ends up getting scared when things do happen, but at least it took the leap to try. After a few nights of reading this book, I realized L probably had no idea what was the common thread in the book.
When I came to this revelation, I decided to explain what worry meant to L. That night, I read the title of the book halfway since when I got to the word worry, I went AHHHH! He started cracking up so hard and I think I was reinforcing the wrong point. He asked me to do it again and I said worry…AHHHH! Same result with L. We went a few more rounds of this until he let me actually read the book.
I still don’t think he knows what worry means or why Murray is scared to do all of these things. The book probably makes no sense if you don’t understand the word worry. It may actually be a funny book now and Murray is just a silly dog. Good enough though for a 2 year old and at least the book led to some laughs.
