Three Kids Trolley
Being a parent is tiring. Being a parent with three kids is even more tiring. Most mornings, I’m trying to get by with brushing everyone’s teeth, getting them all changed, and having breakfast on the table. Some coffee will be squeezed in there as well. After breakfast on the weekends, I usually can take it easier. This was not the case a few weeks ago.
Years ago, I used to play the trolley game with my 7 year old daughter E and 6 year old son C. They were teeny tiny and the trolley game was easy. They would wait at the trolley stop with some money, they would pay a fare, and they would climb on my back. I would run down the hallway and then drop them off on my bed by gentling falling backwards on my back to smush them a bit. They would laugh and make up crazy names so that it was not the same passenger on the trolley. I would squint and say they looked familiar and they would laugh some more. It was fun.
Fast forward to the present days where they are much heavier and bigger. I also have an extra 2 year old in L to account for. Three kids trolley was in service that morning, but at least L was a slight break for me in terms of total weight on my back. The kids all had fun doing the same game. They even had some disguises ready, but for some reason…all their names started with Dr. and I guess this was a very educated traveling crowd. Of course L was Dr. Doo Doo, his specialty.
All the Dr.’s got to their destination safely that morning and there were many fun trips with lots of laughter. It definitely was extra tiring for me, but I managed to make it through. Before there is a next time, I definitely need to hit the gym so that I can prepare for a larger set of passengers on the trolley.
