Three Bugs
Bugs are all over the place now. They definitely belong outside, but sometimes they end up in the house, unfortunately. My 2 year old son L hates bugs, so it is something that we need to deal with.
Maybe he is a strong word though because he actually is scared of them. He does something really cute when he sees bugs. He says they are scary and starts wiggling. That’s my cue to take action.
One night, I end up catching a fly that was flying all around the house. I usually use a container and slide a lid right underneath it once I put the container around the bug. It works really well and I have a high success rate in catching the bugs. L knows that I then bring the bugs outside.
Moments later, he saw a spider and I also had to catch that. He really hates spiders and is very scared of them. Those give him the biggest shivers, which to me are cute. I use the same technique to catch a spider and then I bring it outside with L.
As we were walking back in from the second trip outside, we were walking up the stairs. L says there is another bug. I don’t see or hear any bugs, so I ask him where it is. He just points to one of the stair steps and I don’t see anything. I ask him again where it is. He just points to the same stair step.
Now I’m curious and I squat way down. I ask him where the bug is, and he just keeps pointing at the same step and in the same location. Now I get really close and put my face near where he’s pointing ensure enough, there is a very, very tiny dead bug. It was super tiny.
I’m not sure how he saw that and I’d end up getting rid of the bug. It was a rather eventful evening full of three different bug events. I’m sure L had a very entertaining evening, but I could do without it.
