Thanksgiving Craziness
Every Thanksgiving is crazy and this past one was no different. We usually wake up early and head out on a long drive to meet up with my wife’s family. They have a big gathering every year and it takes over an hour on the road to get where we need to go. Luckily for us, each year has been getting easier and easier on the road since the kids are more calm.
We were the first ones there, so we got to help heat some things up and get ready. Once everyone arrived, it was crazy. There were so many kids in the house and even though my 6 year old daughter E and 5 year old son C are almost self-sufficient, my 1 year old son L was trying to keep up with everyone. He wanted to up and down the stairs, run around, and skip his nap. I couldn’t get him to stop and relax.
I did get to squeeze a meal in and my kids ended up eating decently well. The turkey was really good and it was a solid Thanksgiving with lots of food and family. I didn’t grow up doing these things, so it’s nice to get to go through it and also see my kids so happy during these times. That I am thankful for.
