Summer Popsicle Walks
Summers are for walks outside and lots of popsicles. That’s what my doggo and my kids think. I try my best to make it happen within reason. My 5 year old son C is the one that usually has no qualms about heading out with me.
When we are done with dinner, the kids usually eat a small treat to top everything off. When we have popsicles, they of course want to have that as their treat and they will devour the box if we let them. I like it when we wrap up dinner early so we can squeeze in a walk before everyone showers. I asked C if he wanted to head out with me and the doggo, which he quickly said yes.
He was originally going to opt in for a smaller treat because they usually eat some chocolate or candy. I said since he is heading out for a walk, he could grab a popsicle instead if he wanted. There was a huge smile and he snagged once knowing that he got to eat an extra popsicle when compared to his 7 year old sister E and 2 year old brother L.
We just did a quick loop around the neighborhood - one we did probably at least dozens, maybe even hundreds of times. It was just the three of us this time and C walking around with his popsicle. I really love the times that are routine, but special at the same time. It didn’t hurt that I had a popsicle on that walk either. Good way to spend a summer day.
