Rough Patch
It has been a rough patch and such is life with 3 young kids (and a crazy dog). Between my wife’s travel sandwiching my own two trips, it was a lot just there. Throw in the kids being sick, us being sick, work being crazy, a remodel going on in our house, our dog having yet another rash/infection, and life has a way of getting to you.
When things are hitting the fan, we tried our best to make sure the kids have what they needed. If they were sick, we slept with them and sacrificed our own sleep (and sanity!). We tried to trudge along and get through it. At times, we used TV and the iPad as a crutch because when they are sick, they shouldn’t be running around and coughing everywhere. It’s fine to adjust the rules and routines as the situation needs.
Our dog, through the care of my wife, got through the rash/infection. He constantly has skin issues that he licks and now we know to spot it and try to treat it early. The vet gave us a few recommendations on what to do to prevent it from getting worse.
We are now just digging out of being sick ourselves. Not quite out of the woods there because the kids are bringing home new things all the time, but we are close. It has been a challenging period that can test any family. At the end of each day though, you just appreciate these rough patches and honestly, they are a privilege to deal with. I’m glad I get to rough it with everyone and it’s still time well spent.
