Night Fight

My 6 year old daughter E and 5 year old son C sleep in the same room in the same bed. It's a situation that seems to work really well since they both didn't want to sleep in their own rooms by themselves. My wife and I ended up giving in and this was the arrangement for the last few years. Recently, this arrangement has not worked well on some nights.

One night, E ended up waking up and screaming at C. It was in the middle of the night and she was going crazy. Her screams were so loud and I was wondering what was wrong. It turns out that C either accidentally kicked her or touched her and it woke her up. I had to go in there and mediate.

After I figured out what happened, E was still upset. I get that waking up is not fun, especially when you are tired. I have had that happen to me by my very own kids, so I know the feeling. C was so over it since he was tired and wanted to go back to sleep. While E was screaming, C said that things will be different once E goes back to sleep and then she will love him again. There was so much truth to that statement and C drifted off to sleep after that.

Eventually, I got E to calm down. She went back to sleep and she did wake up loving C again. Just as he foretold.
