A Quiet Morning

A couple of weeks ago, I woke up and got ready for the day. I hadn’t been feeling well, so getting up was a bit of a challenge. My 4 year old son C and 1 year old son L are always up early and playing. They are particularly loud and I am used to the commotion at this point.

In the middle of getting ready, there was a lull. It was silent and I knew that usually meant the two of them were doing something they weren’t supposed to do. I began searching for them and it took a while to figure out where they were because they were in the most unlikely place - next to the bookshelf in C’s room.

The two of the were quietly reading and looking through books. C is starting to read easier books and L just loves looking at pictures. My two boys were just there together having a quiet morning. It was very surprising to hear (or not hear!) and see. Just a sweet moment among the many other mornings of chaos. I wouldn’t mind some more mornings like that.
