Three Coins

We have some chocolate coins that the kids got from somewhere. They have been digging into them and ever since my 1 year old son L was introduced to chocolate last Halloween, he loves it. The unfortunate part is that one night, we did not have 3 coins for my three kids as their treat.

I opened the snack box and there were two coins left. My 7 year old daughter E looked eagerly at them…and so did my 5 year old son C. What I was trying to communicate with them is that I would give them the two coins and only break off a piece for L. so that he felt like he got a coin also.

L was still a bit naive since he hadn’t eaten many chocolate coins, so he really didn’t know the true amount of chocolate he should get. I snuck the two coins to E and C and broke off pieces of each of theirs. I asked L if he wanted a chocolate coin and of course he said yes! I then put the pieces of chocolate in his mouth and he was happy. Then I told E and C to go around the corner to finish off their chocolate coins. Perfect execution of the plan.

As L was running around happy with chocolate in his mouth, E and C came around the corner a little too far. I told them to run away and they ran all the way around…and I mean all the way around. They were now looking at L from the other side and our cover was blown. E was still eating her chocolate coin and L was not happy since he now knew he didn’t have as much chocolate as them!

It ended up being a fiasco because E was not going to share her chocolate coin. She jammed it in her mouth and L threw a fit. C was helpless because he was done already. I had to calm L down and eventually I got him to settle down. Then they had to go shower and I was free for a bit since my amazing wife showers the 3 kids. It was just another funny post dinner incident and it makes me smile every time I see a chocolate coin now since those are L’s favorite treat!
