Silent Night
My 1 year old son L has been crying every night when I leave the room so he can go to sleep in his crib. We had a long stretch after he was sleep trained where he didn’t cry at all when I put him down. After some work trips that threw things off, travel, and being sick, here we were.
I stuck to the same routine at night. We would play in the playroom until he was tired. He would tell him he was ready to read and we go into the room. I plop him on the bed and throw on his sleep sack. I give him his little stuffy and we would cuddle and read. Then I would read the same last book to him to signal it was time to sleep - Mo Ba La La La.
After sticking to the routine despite his crying, he finally just stopped. I thought it was a fluke when it happened the first time, but he kept happening night after night. We are now in the rhythm of many many silent nights when I set L down. It’s great because I know he is not scared and that he is getting good rest. Consistency is key!
