Mommy or TV?
After we get the kids showered, it's the homestretch. Sometimes we end up talking to them about interesting things. We're asking them questions while there are getting dressed. One night after showering, my wife asks our 5 year old son C whether he loves Mommy or the TV more.
Something C has always been is a sweet talker. He loves to say the right things to the right people. He also has a great delivery and it either makes people laugh or cry depending on what he is trying to accomplish. To answer my wife’s question, of course C says Mommy.
Since we both knew C was a sweet talker, my wife decided to inquire further. She started to ask him whether or not he was sure, and he said he was sure that he loved her more. My wife pressed further and further with more questioning, and eventually the truth came out - the definitely loved Mommy more than TV, but it was close!
We all had a good laugh and moved on with the night. It was a funny moment and I know the race is actually closer than we can even imagine since C loves TV a lot. At least the delivery of the truth was top-notch and ended with laughter instead of tears, which is what C was aiming for and delivered.
