Last Day of Futsol
My 5 year old son C has been playing futsol. I had no idea what it was before he signed up. Apparently it is not exactly indoor soccer. It is similar and helps kids play at a faster pace, control the ball on a faster surface, and learn some new tricks.
C plated for weeks and weeks. He was one of the youngest kids in the sessions, but he was also a kid that played really hard. I think the coaches saw that and kept challenging him to do certain things with the older kids. He never got to scrimmage with the older kids, but some of the drills were done with them.
THe last day of futsol was interesting since the coaches asked C to finally scrimmage with the older kids because he was tearing up kids around his age. He was playing against the better 6 year old kids and some older 7 to 8 year old kids…and holding his own. There were a few runs that he made and almost scored a goal twice. It was a good experience for him and he was beaming when it was all done.
The coaches kept telling me the kid has talent for his age. I just think it’s something that should be fun and inspire a lifetime of physical fitness. That’s my wish for C, but if he can take this to new heights, I’m all for it. I just love seeing him work hard at something and have some passion behind it. It’s what a parent dreams about for their kids!
