Artistic Swimming Again

My 7 year old daughter E loves dancing and swimming. The combination of the two becomes artistic swimming. Another session started up a while ago and she was really enjoying it. Something about combining her two passions made her want to keep at it and she works really hard to get through the sessions since they do a lot of swimming (and dancing!) in the water.

My wife usually takes E to the practices, so I don’t get to see the work and progress. This is starting to get more serious since she needed be able to swim 100m for every stroke except the butterfly, where it was only a 50m swim. E passed it and they have to do a lot more swimming once they make it into the classes. I do get to see E’s face light up when she comes home after a session of working hard. It makes me appreciate having something you are passionate about and working really hard at. That is a great place to be in life and finding that purpose is really important.

After a few weeks, we were thrown a curve ball since the sessions were cancelled. They did not have enough kids in class each week, so they decided to refund half the cost and prepare for another set of sessions in the future. E was disappointed and we moved her swim lessons to accommodate artistic swimming, but we will be back on schedule in a few weeks where E and her 5 year old brother C will have swim lessons at the same time. Then it’s back to the chaos of dealing with 2 kids at swim and the shower afterwards. Until then, the lessons are split between different days and I get to work out twice a week because of it. I guess things do work out in their own ways sometimes!
