Anchovies Lane
I usually drive my 7 year old daughter E and 5 year old son C to swim classes. Sometimes the highway looks crazy on the traffic map and for people that do not frequent that route during that time of day, they will surely avoid it. I am not one of those people and will not be deterred (or tricked) by the traffic map!
As I was driving down the highway, the kids noticed I was skipping all the traffic. They were so curious why that was the case and why other cars were not doing what I was doing. I did talk to them about the reason why and instead of answering them right away, I asked them to think about it.
C was deep in thought and he was the first to start guessing. He remembered something about a special lane where cars could drive if they had a lot of people. I said that was correct and asked him what it was called. He thought some more and said it was the anchovies lane…or something like that. I started to laugh because it was super close! HOV lane did sound like anchovies lane actually!
I told them the answer and they both said they knew it was something like that - it was just on the tip of their tongue. Now when I drive on the highway in that special lane, I can’t help but to think that I am part of the anchovies crew swimming along. Yay for anchovies!
